On January 1, 2016, Gurcharan Singh Gill, a 68-year-old Sikh man, was found stabbed to death at Shields Express Mart, a liquor store in Fresno, California. He was the first homicide victim of 2016 in the city. Surveillance footage showed a pale, young man in red attacking Gill.
