On March 2, 1975, Percy Harmon, aged 69, was tragically involved in a violent incident at the Ship Ashore motel in Smith River, California. The event unfolded when an overnight guest at the motel, Robert Paul Sander, 21, from Cincinnati, Ohio, went on a shooting spree with a high-powered rifle.
