On October 13, 1980, 26-year-old Anne Evelyn Alderson, an avid runner and former Peace Corps volunteer in Bogotá, Colombia, was tragically murdered near the Cushing Memorial Amphitheater in Mount Tamalpais State Park, Marin County, California. Her body was discovered on October 15, 1980, with evidence of gunshot wounds and signs of a struggle. This incident marked the third such killing on Mount Tamalpais within a year, instilling fear among local hikers.
