Sergeant George Leon Garrett Jr., a dedicated officer of the Redwood City Police Department, tragically lost his life on May 8, 1981, during a bank robbery at a Bank of America branch in Redwood City, California. At the age of 39, Sergeant Garrett responded to a silent alarm triggered by a bank teller after two suspects entered the bank and threatened to detonate a bomb.
