Ryoko Hanano, a 60-year-old resident of Anaheim, California, tragically lost her life on July 10, 1988. Ryoko and her husband, Kazumi Hanano, had advertised their black 1984 Chevrolet Corvette for sale. On the day of the incident, a woman named Nanette Scheid, posing as a prospective buyer, contacted the Hananos and arranged to see the car.
