On January 17, 1989, six-year-old Sokhim An tragically lost her life in a mass shooting at Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California. This horrific event unfolded when a lone gunman, Patrick Purdy, entered the school playground during recess and began firing indiscriminately.
