Brian E. Meilbeck, a 26-year-old deputy with the Yuba County Sheriff's Department, tragically lost his life on April 1, 1997. Meilbeck had been on the job for only six weeks when he responded to a domestic disturbance call in Olivehurst, a community near Marysville, California. The call involved a dispute between two brothers, one of whom had shot the other in the leg.
