Bonnie Lee Bakley, aged 44, was fatally shot on May 4, 2001, while sitting in her husband Robert Blake's car outside a restaurant in Studio City, Los Angeles. The couple had just finished dinner at Vitello's Restaurant when Blake claimed he left Bakley in the car to retrieve a gun he had left inside the restaurant. Upon his return, he found Bakley shot in the head. This incident marked the beginning of a highly publicized and complex investigation.
