Maria Del Carmen Munoz, a 31-year-old resident of Carlsbad, California, tragically lost her life on December 7, 2003. The circumstances surrounding her death were both shocking and heartbreaking. Maria was fatally shot by Gilberto Mendoza Castillo, a man she had briefly dated. The relationship between Maria and Castillo lasted about a month before she decided to end it. Both Maria and Castillo worked together at Cessy's Taco Shop in Carlsbad, along with Maria's cousin, Miguel Silva.
