Jason S. Allen, aged 26, and his fiancée Lindsay Cutshall, aged 22, were tragically murdered on the night of August 14-15, 2004, while camping on Fish Head Beach in Jenner, California. The couple, who were counselors at a Christian summer camp, had embarked on a road trip and decided to spend the night on the beach. They were found shot to death in their sleeping bags, each with a single gunshot wound to the head from a .45-caliber Marlin rifle.
Their bodies were discovered on August 18, 2004, by a helicopter pilot who was responding to a report of a stranded man on a nearby cliff.
The investigation into their deaths remained unsolved for many years, despite significant media attention and numerous leads. It wasn't until May 2017 that authorities announced a breakthrough in the case. Shaun Gallon, a local man with a history of violent behavior and mental illness, was arrested and later confessed to the murders. Gallon had been on the radar of law enforcement for other crimes, including the murder of his brother in 2017, which ultimately led to his arrest and confession regarding the Jenner beach murders.
In 2019, Shaun Gallon was convicted of the murders of Jason Allen and Lindsay Cutshall. He was sentenced to three consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 94 years for other charges. The motive behind the killings was attributed to Gallon's mental illness, and there was no known connection between him and the victims. The resolution of this case brought some closure to the families of the victims, who had endured years of uncertainty and grief.
