Daniel A. Marrero, a 20-year-old young man of Puerto Rican descent, tragically lost his life on September 28, 2007, in Lancaster, California. The incident occurred during a violent altercation involving multiple individuals, some of whom were gang members. Marrero was fatally shot in the chest by 14-year-old Miguel Monroy during a brawl at an apartment complex on Engle Way.
