On May 6, 2010, Joseph Mercado, 32, committed a tragic act of violence in Hawaiian Gardens, California. He set fire to the home of his ex-girlfriend, Serena Tarin, who was inside with her family. Mercado then broke into the house and opened fire with an assault rifle, resulting in the deaths of Serena Tarin, her brother Alfred "A.D." Tarin, 19, and their father, Alfred Tarin Sr., 53.
