On June 12, 2017, Marco Stevenson, a 22-year-old resident of Baltimore, Maryland, was fatally shot on the 1100 block of Mount Holly Street. The incident occurred amid a wave of violence in the city that contributed to one of Baltimore's deadliest years. The city faced 325 homicides by the end of 2017, with the vast majority involving gun violence.
