Jason Harper, a 39-year-old math teacher and volleyball coach from Carlsbad, California, was found dead in his home on August 7, 2012. The police discovered his body in the master bedroom, concealed under a blanket and other debris. He had been shot with a two-barrel derringer, with the bullet entering through the left side of his torso and piercing his heart.
