Irais Acosta Olvera, a 19-year-old Latina, was tragically shot and killed on February 16, 2014, in Pasadena, California. The incident occurred in the 1500 block of North Raymond Avenue, where officers responded to reports of gunfire around 8:50 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Olvera inside a residence with a gunshot wound to the head. The Los Angeles County coroner's records confirmed her death at the scene.
The shooting took place in the bedroom of the home she shared with her boyfriend, JonJon Crummie.
JonJon Crummie, who was 18 at the time, was arrested the following day on suspicion of killing Olvera. According to police, Crummie was seen fleeing the scene after the shooting. His mother facilitated his surrender to authorities at the Los Angeles County Medical Center. Crummie was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and the use of a handgun in the commission of the crime. He pleaded no contest to these charges in February 2017.
