Carlos Gutierrez, a 20-year-old Latino, was tragically shot and killed on March 1, 2014, in Carson, California. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 3:00 a.m., on the 2700 block of East 220th Street. Deputies from the Carson Station responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired and found Gutierrez in front of a home with at least one gunshot wound. Despite being transported to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead at 3:30 a.m.
