Christopher McDaniel, a 41-year-old resident of Oildale, California, died on March 26, 2014, following a high-speed police pursuit that ended in a fatal shooting. The incident began when McDaniel, riding a motorcycle, failed to comply with a deputy's attempt to pull him over. Instead, he led the deputy on a chase through the streets of northeast Bakersfield, disregarding traffic signals and driving on pedestrian sidewalks.
