Sebastian Arizmendi, a 3-year-old boy from Trabuco Canyon, California, tragically died on May 27, 2015, in what authorities have identified as a murder-suicide. The incident involved his father, Luis Arizmendi, who was 41 years old at the time. On the evening of the incident, the Orange County Sheriff's Department responded to a 911 hang-up call from the Arizmendi residence on Swallows Lane.
Upon arrival, deputies found Luis Arizmendi's wife outside the home, holding their 18-month-old daughter. She informed the deputies that she and her husband had been involved in a domestic dispute. When deputies attempted to communicate with Luis, he barricaded himself inside the house and refused to respond to calls or commands.
The situation escalated, leading to the deployment of the SWAT team. After hearing two gunshots from inside the house, the SWAT team forcefully entered the residence around 7:20 p.m. Inside, they discovered the bodies of Luis and Sebastian Arizmendi, both with gunshot wounds to their heads.
