Clydedale Hoskin Jr., aged 23, tragically lost his life on June 17, 2015, in Antioch, California. He was one of the victims in a double homicide that occurred on the 1800 block of Cavallo Road. The incident took place shortly before 12:30 a.m., when Hoskin and a woman named Adrian Craig, aged 28, were found dead from gunshot wounds. A second woman, aged 44, also suffered a gunshot wound but survived the attack.
The investigation revealed that the shooting was the result of a chaotic
gunbattle that erupted during a robbery attempt. Hoskin, along with two other suspects, Miguel Gutierrez and Julian Johnson, approached a group of people on the street with the intention of robbing them at gunpoint. During the confrontation, Hoskin opened fire, hitting the 44-year-old woman. However, one of the intended robbery victims was armed and returned fire, fatally wounding Hoskin. Gutierrez then shot and killed Craig before fleeing the scene.
Following the incident, law enforcement officials conducted a thorough investigation, leading to the arrests of Gutierrez and Johnson. Gutierrez was apprehended on July 9, 2015, while Johnson turned himself in shortly thereafter. Both suspects were charged with murder, attempted murder, robbery, and weapons violations. Additionally, a third individual, Teresa O’Sullivan, was charged with being an accessory to murder after the fact and weapons violations for her role in assisting the suspects after the crime.
The case saw significant legal proceedings, with both Gutierrez and Johnson facing serious charges. In February 2018, both defendants accepted plea deals related to the robbery and subsequent shootout. These plea deals marked a critical development in the case, bringing some measure of closure to the tragic events that led to the deaths of Clydedale Hoskin Jr. and Adrian Craig.
