On June 5, 2016, at approximately 2:45 p.m., San Jose police officers responded to reports of a shooting near North 26th and East Julian streets. Upon arrival, they discovered 57-year-old Edward Garcia Jr. lying in the roadway, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses at the scene provided descriptions of the suspects, leading investigators to identify 18-year-old Heriberto Quintana and 19-year-old Santiago Gonzalez as the primary suspects
in Garcia's death. Both individuals were apprehended on June 8, 2016, in San Jose. They were subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on murder charges.
Following their arrest, a no-bail warrant was issued for Quintana and Gonzalez. They were scheduled to appear in court on June 17, 2016, to face charges related to the homicide. The swift identification and capture of the suspects were attributed to the timely information provided by witnesses at the scene.
Edward Garcia Jr.'s death marked San Jose's 22nd homicide of the year in 2016. He was known to friends and family as "Eddie."
