On August 24, 2016, Polly Chao Yau, aged 64, was found dead in her home in the Turtle Rock Community of Irvine, California. The Irvine Police Department responded to a call just before 12:30 p.m. and discovered Polly and her 27-year-old son, Ryan CJ Yau, both deceased from gunshot wounds. The preliminary investigation indicated that Ryan shot his mother before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide.
