Darrell Daniel, a 23-year-old resident of Oakland, California, was tragically killed on October 21, 2016. The incident occurred in the 1700 block of 11th Street in West Oakland at approximately 9:21 p.m. According to police reports, Daniel was shot multiple times by Otis Wyatt, who was observed retrieving a firearm from a gang associate before firing numerous gunshots towards Daniel.
After Daniel fell to the ground, Wyatt approached and shot him again multiple times, resulting in Daniel being pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Daniel's death led to the arrest of Otis Wyatt, who was charged with murder on February 16, 2017. Wyatt, who was 19 years old at the time of the shooting, was identified by multiple witnesses as the shooter. Evidence collected at the scene included 12 casings and numerous .40-caliber Smith & Wesson cartridges. An autopsy confirmed that Daniel died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Wyatt is also implicated in another murder case. He is accused of fatally shooting 20-year-old Craig Fletcher-Cooks at a birthday party in Oakland in August 2016, two months before Daniel's death. This case remains pending, with Wyatt awaiting further court proceedings. The dual murder charges against Wyatt have highlighted his alleged involvement in multiple violent incidents within a short period.
