Christian Emanuel Lopez, a 28-year-old Latino man, was fatally shot in Los Angeles, California. The incident occurred in the early hours of December 26, 2016, near South Grand Avenue and West 73rd Street in the Florence neighborhood. Lopez was stopped at a traffic light when a light-colored sedan pulled up beside him. A person inside the vehicle asked Lopez about his gang affiliation before opening fire.
He was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries eight days later, on January 4, 2017.
Authorities described the suspects as Latino individuals who fled the scene in the light-colored sedan. The Los Angeles Police Department's Criminal Gang Homicide Division launched an investigation into the case, seeking additional suspect information. As of the latest available reports, police were still requesting assistance from the public to identify those responsible for Lopez's death.
In a separate case, a man named Christian Omar Lopez, also 28 years old, was arrested in Los Angeles County on October 24, 2016, for petty theft. However, there is no indication that this arrest was related to the homicide of Christian Emanuel Lopez.
