On March 19, 2017, a tragic incident occurred in Capitola, California, resulting in the death of 7-year-old Yaxtel Tapia. The young girl was killed in a murder-suicide orchestrated by her father, Carlos Garcia. The incident took place in the parking lot of Capitola Mall, where Garcia shot his daughter before turning the gun on himself. The family had been shopping together at the mall prior to the incident.
