Mark Anthony Areas, a 21-year-old Latino, was tragically shot and killed on April 13, 2017, in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on the 3500 block of Lanfranco Street. Residents in the area reported hearing gunfire and promptly called the police.
