Jose V. Mejia Diaz, a 22-year-old resident of San Jose, California, tragically lost his life on the night of December 27, 2017. Diaz was the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred around 9 p.m. on the 2500 block of Van Winkle Lane in East San Jose. Responding officers found him suffering from at least one gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was one of two fatal occurrences in the area that day, highlighting a particularly violent period for the community.
