Moises C. Rodriguez, a 26-year-old Latino, was tragically shot and killed on February 14, 2018, in North Hollywood, Los Angeles. The incident occurred in the 11500 block of Sylvan Street. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, the shooting happened shortly before 6 p.m. when officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call about a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Rodriguez and another individual suffering from gunshot wounds.
Rodriguez was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m. The other victim, a 23-year-old man, was wounded but survived.
The circumstances leading to the shooting were particularly alarming. Rodriguez and two others were reportedly hanging out and eating pizza when a person exited a vehicle, approached the group, and identified himself as a gang member. The assailant made a derogatory remark before opening fire. After the shooting, the gunman fled back to the vehicle, which detectives are still trying to identify. Despite the gang-related claim by the shooter, neither Rodriguez nor the other victims had any known gang affiliations.
The investigation into Rodriguez's murder has been ongoing. Detectives have been working to gather more information and identify the vehicle involved in the incident. The Los Angeles Police Department has urged anyone with information to come forward, offering anonymity to those who wish to remain unidentified. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the case remains unsolved.
