On March 9, 2018, Dr. Jennifer Gonzales Shushereba, a clinical psychologist with the San Francisco Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, was tragically killed in a hostage standoff at the Veterans Home of California in Yountville. Dr. Shushereba, who was seven months pregnant, was one of three women taken hostage and subsequently killed by Albert Wong, a former patient of The Pathway Home program where she worked.
