Calvin Ervin, a 46-year-old Black man from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was killed by gunfire on the night of February 12, 2011. The shooting unfolded outdoors at the Pine Crest Apartments along Mohican-Prescott Crossover, where police were called around 8:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Ervin dead in a grassy area in front of the complex.
