Jesse Andrew Lynn, a 56-year-old resident of Gramercy Park in South Los Angeles, was fatally shot on September 2, 2018, in Inglewood, California. and arrested a suspect, Maurice Ledon Marshall, 41, at an Inglewood motel on September 5, 2018. Marshall was charged with murder, possession for sale of heroin, and possession for sale of methamphetamine, with allegations that he used a handgun in the slaying. The investigation revealed that both Lynn and Marshall were dating the same woman, although it is believed they did not know each other prior to the fatal encounter.
