On the night of September 19, 2018, tragedy struck the small community of Taft, California, when 33-year-old Jose De Jesus Ramirez was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 10:30 PM in the 700 block of B Street. Responding to reports of gunfire, Kern County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene to find two men dead: Jose De Jesus Ramirez and 45-year-old Antonio Olivas.
