Jacory Brown Sr., a 28-year-old resident of Fairfield, California, tragically lost his life on January 12, 2019, in Antioch, California. The incident occurred in the early afternoon when Antioch police responded to a reported shooting on Peppertree Way near Sycamore Drive. Upon arrival, officers found Jacory Brown Sr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate life-saving measures provided by the officers and the subsequent efforts by firefighters and paramedics, Brown was transported to a nearby trauma center where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Jacory Brown Sr.'s death revealed that he had been involved in a verbal and physical altercation with Jordan Thompson, a 24-year-old man. The confrontation escalated, leading to Thompson allegedly shooting Brown multiple times in the upper body. Following the shooting, Thompson managed to evade law enforcement for nearly a year. However, on January 17, 2020, Thompson was apprehended during a routine traffic enforcement stop on Contra Loma Boulevard near Longview Road. An identification check revealed that Thompson was wanted for an outstanding warrant related to the murder of Jacory Brown Sr.
Thompson was immediately arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of murder. The case was then forwarded to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office for further review. This was not Thompson's first encounter with the law, as he had previously been arrested on several weapons-related charges in August 2014. The arrest of Thompson brought some closure to the year-long investigation into the tragic death of Jacory Brown Sr., marking a significant development in the case.
