Don Campbell, a retired Long Beach police sergeant, tragically took his own life on January 16, 2019, at the age of 60. Campbell was found with a gunshot wound to his upper torso in the parking lot of the Long Beach Police Department’s East Division substation. Authorities confirmed that he shot himself shortly before 11 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office ruled his death a suicide.
