Milton Womak, age 60, was killed on July 27, 2012, in New Orleans as part of a murder-for-hire scheme intended to prevent him from testifying in a federal health care fraud trial. Womak, a former employee of Louis Age Jr., was involved in a $17 million fraud scheme, and his death was orchestrated to prevent him from cooperating with authorities regarding the ongoing investigation. The scheme was designed not only to silence Womak but also as retaliation for his intended cooperation.
