In early 2020, the Kinchen family in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, suffered two tragic losses in separate incidents. While online sources do not contain information regarding the death of a man named Otis Kinchen, they do detail the deaths of two other men with the same last name.
The first incident occurred on the night of Saturday, February 1, 2020. Lester Kinchen, a 50-year-old man, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 3900 block of Odell Street.
Police were called to the scene just before midnight, where they discovered his body. At the time of the initial investigation, authorities had not identified a motive or any suspects in the fatal shooting. The investigation into his death was ongoing, with police appealing to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest.
A few months later, on the evening of June 27, 2020, another member of the Kinchen family, 34-year-old Jerome Kinchen, was killed. The shooting happened around 8 p.m. in the 4800 block of Gus Young Avenue. Jerome Kinchen was found at the scene, having died from apparent gunshot injuries. Another individual, later identified as 22-year-old Armon Wilson, was also struck by gunfire and taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation. Following an investigation, Armon Wilson was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He was charged with first-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. In November 2025, Armon Wilson, then 27, accepted a plea deal. He pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree murder responsive to manslaughter, obstruction of justice, and possession of a firearm. As a result of the plea agreement, he was sentenced to serve 30 years in prison.
