Jesse Adrian Meza, an 18-year-old Latino, was tragically killed on September 30, 2020, in Wilmington, Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, the incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. while Meza was sitting in a gray Honda Accord with his cousin, Raemond Santos, 19. The two were parked in the 1200 block of Drumm Avenue when another vehicle approached. A person exited the vehicle and began shooting at Meza and Santos.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, Meza was pronounced dead at 3:05 p.m. that day. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) believes that Meza and his cousin were misidentified as gang members, although neither had any gang affiliations.
