Who killed Darrick Brasley? In the early morning hours of Sunday, November 25, 2012, Darrick Brasley, a 39-year-old African-American male, was in the 1200 block of Columbus Street in the 7th Ward of New Orleans. At approximately 3:50 a.m., an unknown assailant opened fire, striking Brasley twice. One bullet hit him in the right side of his neck, and another struck his chest.
Though critically injured, Brasley was still alive and was rushed to the LSU Health - New Orleans hospital for emergency treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away later that evening.
The investigation into the murder of Darrick Brasley remains ongoing. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with his shooting, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The case is still considered open. Tragically, the family would suffer another loss when Brasley's brother, Christopher Watson, was also murdered in New Orleans on Christmas Day in 2015.
