Felicia Becerra, aged 31, tragically lost her life on January 31, 2021, during a shooting incident at a house party in southeast Fresno, California. The party, which was a celebration of Becerra's birthday, turned deadly when gunfire erupted just after 1:00 a.m. Upon arrival, first responders found Becerra suffering from gunshot wounds and despite their efforts to perform CPR, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another victim, Oudara Chounramany, 29, was also shot and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. A third individual, a 26-year-old man, was injured but survived the attack.
The investigation into the shooting revealed that the majority of the partygoers were uncooperative with the police, making it challenging to identify suspects or determine a motive. Despite the lack of cooperation, the Fresno Police Department continued their efforts to solve the case. In a significant development, Matthew Pless was arrested in connection with the double murder. Pless was initially taken into custody on unrelated criminal charges, but investigators later linked him to the shooting that claimed the lives of Becerra and Chounramany.
The case highlighted the ongoing issue of violence in Fresno, with Becerra's death marking the 11th homicide in the city since the beginning of the year. The community was urged to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in bringing justice to the victims and their families.
