Dominic Vaca, a 43-year-old sergeant with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, tragically lost his life on May 31, 2021, in Yucca Valley, California. The incident began when deputies from the Morongo Basin station attempted to stop a motorcyclist who was riding without a license plate. The motorcyclist, later identified as Bilal Winston Shabazz, 29, of Lancaster, fled the scene, leading deputies on a pursuit.
