Estrella Soleil Luna, a 24-year-old woman from Victorville, California, was tragically found dead on July 5, 2021. Her body was discovered inside a burning car in La Habra Heights. The coroner's office later confirmed that Luna had died from multiple gunshot wounds, ruling her death a homicide. The incident began when deputies from the Sheriff’s Industry station and the La Habra Heights Fire Department responded to a call about a car on fire near North Cypress Street and Nabal Road.
Firefighters extinguished the flames and found Luna's body inside the vehicle. It was determined that she had been killed elsewhere, and her body was transported to La Habra Heights, where the car was set on fire in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence.
Investigators, including Sgt. Robert Martindale, believe that the fire was intended to cover up the crime, but the flames did not completely destroy the car. A homeowner who noticed the fire called authorities and used a fire extinguisher to partially put out the blaze, preventing it from spreading further. Luna was last seen alive in the Los Angeles area earlier on the day of her death. Detectives have been working to trace her movements on that day to piece together the events leading up to her murder. The motive for the killing remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Luna's death. The car in which her body was found, a Nissan Sentra, was not reported stolen, and the woman listed as the owner in the paperwork is not considered a suspect. Luna had ties to the San Gabriel Valley, and public records indicate she previously lived in Hacienda Heights. Detectives have urged anyone with information about the case to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover more details and bring those responsible for Luna's death to justice.
