Two of the men, 28-year-old Charlie George and 17-year-old David Foster, surrendered to authorities on May 27, 2016. The third suspect, 20-year-old Jeremy Ratliff of New Orleans, was apprehended on August 24, 2016, by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force in Gretna.
All three individuals, Ratliff, George, and Foster, were subsequently charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting of Chad Miller. At the scene of the crime, investigators recovered three AK-47 casings and a. 380 casing, indicating the types of firearms used in the commission of the homicide. The motive for the shooting was not immediately released to the public. The case proceeded through the justice system to address the charges brought against the three suspects.
