Patrolman Charles E. Schaeffer, a dedicated officer of the Buffalo Police Department, tragically lost his life on September 6, 1911, succumbing to injuries sustained two days earlier. On September 4, 1911, while patrolling his beat, Schaeffer responded to a report of larceny at a wedding celebration. He was informed that four men had stolen jackets from the event.
