Myron Kettle, aged 62, died on March 6, 1995, in Irving, NY, during a violent shootout on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. This incident was part of a larger conflict within the Seneca Nation, where rival factions were vying for control of the tribal leadership. The shootout occurred at the William Seneca Building, a tribal government office, and was the culmination of escalating tensions between supporters of Dennis Bowen, the Seneca Nation President, and Karen Bucktooth, his challenger.
