In the spring of 2013, a single act of violence tragically cut short the life of Jason L. Oates, a 32-year-old male residing in Rome, New York. On the evening of Thursday, March 28, 2013, the sound of gunfire shattered the peace in the rear parking lot of the Rome YMCA on West Bloomfield Street. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Oates unresponsive, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
