In the summer of 2015, the life of 17-year-old Ortez Williams Jr. was tragically cut short in New Orleans East. On the evening of July 16th, just before 7:30 p.m., police responded to a call in the 6700 block of Tara Lane. There, they discovered Williams suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
The investigation into the young man's death led the New Orleans Police Department to identify a suspect.
Eight months later, in March of 2016, authorities publicly named 16-year-old Miqueghele Brown as the individual they believed was responsible for the killing of Ortez Williams Jr. At the time of the announcement, police stated that Brown was known to frequent the New Orleans East area and asked for the public's assistance in locating him.
