In the early morning hours of a July Saturday in Medford, New York, a house party erupted into chaos that left one man dead. Darnell Smith, a 36-year-old male from East Patchogue, was fatally shot during a large street brawl that broke out near the corner of Cedar and West lanes. The violent altercation, which occurred around 1:30 a.m. on July 6, 2019, drew multiple 911 calls from concerned residents reporting a large group of people fighting.
