On September 13, 2016, Brandon Thomas, a 28-year-old African American man from New Orleans, Louisiana, was fatally shot outside a nightclub while stopping to greet a friend. The incident occurred during a particularly tragic week for the Veal family, as Brandon and his brother Bradley were ambushed and killed just days after their brother Bryan had been shot and killed in a separate incident.
