Man killed in triple homicide Darome Hilton, a 34-year-old African-American man, was fatally shot on the night of October 4, 2016, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The incident, which unfolded shortly before 9:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Ulloa Street, also claimed the lives of 20-year-old Glenquel Emerson and 22-year-old Bobbie Basquine, marking the city's first triple homicide of the year.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the shooting erupted when two groups of people who were gathered outside began
exchanging gunfire. In the ensuing violence, a total of five individuals were struck by bullets. Emerson was pronounced dead at the scene, while Hilton and Basquine were transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. Two other individuals were also wounded in the shootout.
In the immediate aftermath of the killings, investigators worked to piece together the events of that night. The day after the shooting, authorities released a surveillance video to the public that captured a portion of the incident. The footage showed two men running down the street and another male staggering before falling to the ground. Despite this, and a continued investigation into the motive and potential suspects, no arrests have been made in the case.
The case of Darome Hilton's death, along with the murders of Glenquel Emerson and Bobbie Basquine, remains an open investigation. Hilton, a father of five, was remembered by his family and friends in a funeral service held on October 15, 2016. The search for those responsible for the triple homicide on Ulloa Street continues.
