Zachary Thomas Barse, a 28-year-old resident of Phelps, NY, tragically lost his life on November 25, 2021, in a hunting incident. According to reports, Barse was out hunting with an acquaintance, 61-year-old Kevin M. Hudson from Clifton Springs. The incident occurred in a wooded area near Cross Road in Phelps. Barse was tracking a deer he had shot earlier when he approached the vicinity of Hudson's tree stand. Hudson, mistaking Barse for a deer, fired his gun, striking Barse in the upper body.
