James Brian Swart, a 25-year-old police officer with the Prince George's County Police Department, tragically lost his life on June 26, 1978, in Hyattsville, Maryland. Officer Swart was shot and killed by a 15-year-old theft suspect in the booking area of the Hyattsville District Station.
